The McDonald family of Holly Springs, NC announces the transition of Benjamin Franklin McDonald on March 25, 2023, at his home in Goldsboro, NC. He was born on May 8, 1950, in Harnett County, NC. Known by his family and close friends as “Frankie”.
Ben traveled extensively appreciating and learning about the different cultures of the world while serving in the United States Air Force. He was a voracious reader; reading everything related to history and could officially be called a history buff. Along with history, he enjoyed golf, gardening, everything football, and the poetry of William Butler Keats and John Keats. This had him to be a great conversationalist.
He is survived by his wife Lilian, two daughters Carol and Soraya, and one granddaughter, Mattie, mother, sisters, brothers, and a host of cousins.
A private memorial service will be held this week for members of the family only. A larger celebration of life will be held later this year.
We will appreciate all of your memories of our beloved Ben.
