Deborah (Burt) Griffin

Deborah Karen Burt Griffin, lovingly known as Granny and Weebie, of Apex, North Carolina passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2026, surrounded by love.

Deborah was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Walter and Rosie Lee Burt. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Burt and James Burt.

Deborah received her education through Wake County Public School System. She then entered the workforce where she was known for her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication. She faithfully served Wake County Public School System for many years until her retirement, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and diligence.

Deborah was wise, artistic, and creative. She had a gentle and loving spirit that touched everyone around her. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved flowers, appreciated the beauty of nature, and treasured every moment spent with her family and grandchildren. Though she was a woman of few words, her expressions spoke volumes; with just a look, she could communicate what others could not say with words.

She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Deborah is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Burt (Tonya) of Charlotte, NC, Walter Burt (Emily) of Apex, NC, and Reginald Griffin (Amy) of Fuquay Varina, NC. Her siblings Johnsie McClain of Fuquay Varina, NC, Clifford Burt of Raleigh, NC, and Joann Yates (Phillip) of Apex, NC. Grandchildren Abigail Burt, Allison Griffin, Mason Burt, Daniel Griffin, and Isabell Burt.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
